2023 Gamay 'Levings'.......... 96 pts (Philip Rich - Halliday Wine Companion)

A$58.00

REVIEW: 96 PTS - “From the Brooklands Vineyard on the valley floor; 100% whole bunches and matured in seasoned French puncheons. A deepish, bright crimson purple. A no-holds-barred wine, with its bouquet of dark cherries, damson plums, incense and fragrant, whole-bunch-derived dried flowers. Sweet-fruited and punchy on the palate, with full, ripe tannins and good acidity for support. A lot of love has gone into this, and it simply needs another six to 12 months for all the moving parts to fully come together.” (Philip Rich - Halliday Wine)

REVIEW: 94 PTS - “It’s 100% whole bunch (and is it what!) from the Brooklands Vineyard (De Bortoli) on the valley floor. Jalapeño and smoky mezcal-like smells, blackcurrant and cherry, dried flowers. It’s juicy and blackcurranty, ripe red fruits too, plenty of flavour and intensity, a light tickle of spritz, meaty and earthy, a whole lot of spice and silty rich powdery tannin, bright acidity, and excellent carry of flavour on its long finish. Distinctive wine. Perhaps not for everyone, though I love it.” (Gary Walsh - The Wine Front)
