2021 Pinot Noir 'Levings'.... 95pts (Gary Walsh) MAGNUM (1500mL)
REVIEW: 95PTS - Cherry, strawberry, spice and perfume, a little coffee bean earthiness. It’s light but firm, all red fruit with a spicy and earthy character, fine graphite tannin, cool acidity, some orange peel and fennel, almost a little bit of a Barbaresco feel to it (but don’t mind me), with a long and spicy finish. It’s very good, and looked better after being open for a day (Gary Walsh - The Wine Front)
Overview: Perfumed and savoury from whole bunch inputs and our super fine clay soils
Winemaking: hand picked fruit from our Home block vineyard; four open pot ferments with an average 70% whole bunch and 22 days on skins; natural ferment and malo; 25% new French oak; no fining or filtration
Aroma: Blueberries, strawberries & violets with hints of orange peel, earth, spice wood and reduction - give it a decant as a young wine and see it open up
Palate: Fine & focussed with a dense core of blue & red fruits - fleshy mid-palate, fine-grained tannins a long and complex aftertaste
Alcohol: 13.3 %
pH: 3.56
TA: 5.6 g/L
Region: Yarra Valley
minimum 6 units (straight or mixed)
