winemaking:

This TaT Farm MV6 Pinot is from our own vineyard in Badger Creek. Stainless steel open top indigenous fermented. Three separate ferments from 1ha block. Ferment #1 was 100% Whole Bunch. Ferment #2 was 100% destemmed with saignee and ferment #3 was 10% Whole Bunch. Whole bunch portion is about 30% of final blend.  New French oak is 25% of the blend. Second use French oak makes up another 25%. All oak as puncheons (500L) and hogsheads (300L). No fining or filtration. Bottled in December.

nose:

Lifted black cherry, plum and Five Spice. Hints of orange peel, toasty oak, whole bunch and barrel ferment characters.

 palate:

Juicy and ‘plump’ mid palate with dense and velvety tannins. Red berry flavours, a sprinkling of herbal notes and a lively acidity combine to make this 2017 vintage a serious and profound wine. Great overall balance with a long and lingering finish.
